Ready For An Egg

A Different Kind Of Art Journal – Day 1

On the site Watercolor.com I found a most interesting and fun project to play with.  Art Journaling by Judi Russell. I’m not  a huge fan of journals in any form nor mixed media art which is what most art journaling usually is.  I decided to have a look at the page anyway just to check it out and I am glad that I did. It’s quite fun. Upon waking up one is supposed to take a pencil, close your eyes and just let the pencil scribble all over the page. Then open your eye, look at your scribbles to see if anything definitive stands out. Then trace over it to darken it, then go over it in dark marker. Next color it all in. This is all supposed to answer any mysterious questions that might be lurking in your subconscious mind. As I mis-understood that part I just wrote down whatever thought came to me when making the scribble.  This has been most interesting.

So tonight I am showing you my very first one, with a little reluctance because of the subject matter. I did not have anything on my mind when I sat down to pursue this.  I hadn’t been reading about this particular subject nor thinking about it. This is honestly what happened naturally.  The first sentence, “Each day is filled with new possibilities”  was my first thought then the others flowed from that. I have no idea how or why this particular issue was the subject matter. It just is what it is.

Each day is filled with new possibilities

Lives that are destroyed before they can begin

Lives ripped apart in pain and agony

Before they should ever experience any

It’s Getting Dark Out – Abstract Art

but there is still a glimmer of light in the distance, you just have to look for it.

Evening In Africa

Chaaa, Chaa, Cha, Changes

I am so happy with the changes that I made to my horse mural. I like it much better than  before. Loads more still to do but it makes me happy to walk by and see it now. I feel as if I can see the light at the end of tunnel now. And light is what I need most. I think I am going to name my horse Whisper.  His nose looks much longer in the photo. It might really be too long but not as much as in the picture.

When I put the base color on the carrots you can see my hand decided to not cooperate with me and decided to just throw the paint brush around. I can’t wait to add all of the little details to make the carrots come to life.

I think I need an orange wall or two or three in my house. It is such a happy color, so full of energy and life. Maybe I should paint every room this color! Change can be a good thing.

Trompe L’oeil

I did a little more work on my horse mural while my grandson was over the other day. He inspires me.

I fooled my eye alright. I have no idea what I was thinking when I changed the horizon line. The horizon line that will now have to be changed back into the right place. And since my grandson wanted his picture taken as he petted the horse I now see that the body is way too small. And the mane that I added sticking out to the side has to be removed. All of these little reasons are why I don’t paint professionally, only for my amusement. Although I have done two paid projects that came out stunning. Trust me I was stunned.

So after those fixes there is still an open window pane to add. That should be interesting with all of the measuring and odd angles that will be involved.

My Own Private Island

I feel like a bear out of hibernation! I love this time of the year. I am in the mood to paint again so I have been working a little bit here and there on my island painting. I want to work on the water next but I am a little hesitant as I do not want to mess up the water!

Silk Fun!!!!!

I just found this on the site, How About Orange . This virtual painting with silk is so much fun. Very Zen. I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing. Check out her site, she has so many interesting things to see and do.

More of the mural

I have painted a little more. It was a little hairy as I couldn’t get the bottom of the marble to look like the top that I had already painted. Finally it worked out. So here is a little more work done.

This is the photo that I am working from although I am doing my side panels as marble instead of whatever the book shows.

This is the part I am probably not going to do!

This is the book that I am using. Imagine painting what’s on the cover!
