Dog Watercolor – Luna

I would love to show you the photograph that I painted this picture from as it might make more sense if you saw it but I can’t do that as I stupidly, accidentally deleted it! So just to let you know the original was full of shadow and contrast and slighly blurry. It had a certain electric quality to it and a pop that I really liked. But you will have to take my word for it.

Out

Easter Inspiration Painting

I woke up to a most beautiful day and went straight outside and started painting. The painting morphed several times into different subjects until it finally showed its true colors. I knew it was right when my heart felt light and happy but also realized the sadness involved. When I could sense God weeping for his only Son that he sacrificed for us so that we could have eternal life.

After I was happy with the background I laid this little twig against the painting. I liked the way it looked but didn’t want to attach it to the painting. The little twig is a dogwood tree that I tried to transplant from my son’s yard to mine. It was never happy after being moved. My husband thought I had told him to chop it down and after he did I felt so sad about the little dogwood. So I am thrilled that I was able to use in my painting after all. I laid it against the painting and painted the shadow of it.

It was so beautiful outside, I was inspired by all of the sun, greenery and bits of pink flowers that I could see.

These are close ups of the painting since they are a little difficult to see in the large picture.

The canvas which is actually a 27 x 23 piece of plywood. I leaned it against an old lawn chair because I knew I would be using a waterbottle to spray it as I worked on it.

This may be available in my Etsy Shop later. I hope you all have/had a fabulous, grateful and thought provoking Easter Sunday.

Fishy Fishy

I don’t work with clay very often but I was inspired to give it another try after seeing a gorgeous flower made from clay in an art magazine. It didn’t turn out exactly as I wanted but close enough. His name is Fishy Fishy.

This clever click it will let you virtually paint a room. Less guessing and less mess and lots of fun besides. I found it at House Beautiful.com.

Go big or don’t have fun

I just had what I think is a great idea. It came to me as a result of the fact that I do not (usually) like to draw or paint on a small-scale. I like to use entire walls. Oh the fun! Or even floors.

So a great idea for kids is to take rolls of craft paper and “wall-paper” their walls with it. You don’t have to actually wall paper them. Just cut sheets as tall as your child can reach and use painter’s tape to tape them to the wall covering as much width as you can. The more the better. More paper, more fun. Trust me your kids will thank you for it. They will have so much fun.

If you want to keep them close to you in a certain room tear off a suitable amount and tape it one child sized sheet just long enough to entertain them for you too finish whatever you need to do. Then it can be moved to their room for show and tell. Or rolled up and taken to school for show and tell.

The kids will feel as if they really are drawing on the wall, which will make it that much more fun. That much more. Is that proper grammar? Doesn’t sound right. But the giant sheets of craft paper will feel right for you kids. Have fun.

More of the mural

I have painted a little more. It was a little hairy as I couldn’t get the bottom of the marble to look like the top that I had already painted. Finally it worked out. So here is a little more work done.

This is the photo that I am working from although I am doing my side panels as marble instead of whatever the book shows.

This is the part I am probably not going to do!

This is the book that I am using. Imagine painting what’s on the cover!

Just horsing around

I thought I would show you the process of painting a horse mural. Not that I am a professional by any means. I love painting or drawing murals. I don’t usually paint or draw on a small-scale such as drawing paper but give me a wall and I am happy. I can always paint over if it doesn’t look good.

I started by painting a window or I should say a window frame. The rest of the window will be painted last. I used a photograph of an actual horse that I took then traced it using a Wacom Tablet. And no my perspective is not perfect, I always have trouble with that. And yes I should take time to study it but I haven’t yet. Next I printed the photograph the size that I wanted the horse to be and used carbon paper to trace it onto the wall.  It is supposed to look as if the horse is sticking its head through the window into the house.

My Mural books finally arrived in the mail!

Below, a peek at some  of the pages.

Silly Summer Fun

Go ahead paint on the windows! Craft acrylic comes right off with a little soap and water. It’s fun for everyone. My grandson thought it was great that I was painting on the back door window.
