How To Find A Lost Pet

While looking for tips to find a dog that is lost in our area I came across this information on PetFinder and wanted to share it with all of you. Please share it with everyone you know who has a pet.

I particularly like the advice of making huge signs as most that are posted on 8.5 x 11 paper are far too small to be seen while driving in a car. Get whiteboard and cut it out in the shape of a dog. Just a generic dog shape will be fine. Write, Help me I’m lost, on it. That will catch someone’s attention don’t you think? Put your phone number in a large easy to read size. Post signs at any and every store that will let you. Go to your local truck stop if there is one in your area and hand out fliers to the truckers. They are nice and willing to help. That is a lot of eyes.

I don’t think it would hurt to ask the local police either. After all they are out there riding around right? And how about local realtors? And mailmen! All they can say is no, but if you flashed the picture then they have seen it. Leave it on your mailbox. Set up a large poster size whiteboard/foamboard in your front yard with huge ( it really does have to be huge)  font in black or red. Don’t forget the local dog and children’s park.  Use Craigslist!

Also I have noticed a lot of dogs without collars while at home. What sense does that make?!  If they run out of the door and get lost they are without their identification!!! Make them wear it all of the time.  A lot of the lost dog ads say that the animal doesn’t have it’s collar on. That is a an accident waiting to happen.

Any other ideas are very welcome.

I’m short and stout but I get about.

I really can not believe how fast this fat little old guy can move.  Especially when it comes to trying to beat you to getting in the back door.  He can’t come in the house because he is not fixed. He is a stray that I found. I have done everything I can think of to find his owners but it really seems as if someone has dropped him off. I am totally in love with him now. I do everything I can to make him feel welcome and happy and at home. He is precious.

Just a cat, just a dog or a saviour?

Anyone with children and dogs or even cats for that matter might want to save this story and share with all of your friends and family. If you aren’t as close to your pet as you should be maybe you will rethink that matter after watching this video. It could save your life or your child’s life.

Have you hugged your pet today?

How it feels to be an ill treated dog.

I was separated from my mom when I was very young and spent months in a small cage in a cold, hard room. Then one day you came along and took me home with you. I was so happy. Finally, I thought, I was going to be part of a family and be loved and cherished.

Instead, you tied me to a tree outside and gave me a tiny house to live in. I would see you every other evening when you’d bring me some food and water. For the rest of the days and nights I was alone with no one to spend time with and no one to curl up next to. The summers were so hot and the winters were unbearably cold. Frustration and boredom became my existence.

Then, one day, you untied me and took me for a ride in your car. I was so happy to finally be free; thrilled to see something other than your back yard. I hung my head out the window and my ears flapped in the wind. Then you stopped the car and let me out. I was jumping up and down with excitement over the unexpected adventure that we were about to have together. But when I turned, you were back in the car speeding off down the road.

I didn’t know where I was or how to get home, so I sat there beside the road knowing you would come back soon. Two days later I was hungry thirsty and cold so I decided to start looking for someone to help me. I came upon some houses, but the people yelled at me to go away. I didn’t know what else to do so I walked back down the road toward where you left me. Then I heard a car coming. I was sure it was you coming back to get me. But the car was going fast. It knocked me into the ditch and kept going. Now I can’t move. Something is terribly wrong. I’m so scared, hungry, cold, alone, and now in terrible pain.

Why did you leave me like this? I just wanted a chance to be your best friend. I would have been so loyal. I would have been your protector. I would have given anything for just a little of your love and attention. I must have done something very bad to deserve this but I can’t imagine what it was. Please come get me. I’m… so… tired..
