Mexican Hot Chocolate Roasted Pecans

I found this recipe on Ree Drummond’s Tasty Kitchen blog. As in Ree Drummond the Pioneer Woman. I actually cooked. I actually whisked egg whites into peaky meringue.

I did however leave out the “hot” part. Not only did I not have the pepper I couldn’t find it in the store plus we don’t like hot. Those things are still good. Especially on vanilla ice cream!

Cat Allergies Can Be Controlled

This article on Yahoo News leaves a few stones unturned I believe. I do understand the severity of allergies as I have struggled with them all of my life. Twenty something years ago when I was pregnant I developed chronic severe asthma. It did subside a few years later only to reappear whenever I have bronchitis and of course when I got an indoor dog and then a cat. But something the article fails to mention is the fact that there are so many new medicines available now that didn’t  exist  twenty years ago not to mention when I was a young child and loved cats.

Yes I have to take medicine. Yes it is expensive but the joy I get from finally being able to have a dog in the house and a cat at all let alone in the house is priceless. Ok maybe that isn’t the best way to say that. It does come at a high price but it is doable.

I take Singulair for allergies and use a Symbicort inhaler.  So it can be done.  So don’t throw the cat (or dog) out without looking into the matter first.  You’ll miss out on far too much love and joy.

Tsunami Survivor

This leaves me almost speechless. This fifteen year old girl was swept away in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and survived only to be found and taken in by a horrible lady who enslaved her.

This poor child, the horrors that she has been through. I am so happy that she is back home safe and sound with her rightful family. Read the full story here.

Christmas Tree X-Ray

As seen on Geekologie. I am fascinated by X-rays. I wish I had studied to be an x-ray technician. How cool is this?!

All I Want For Christmas Is…

Excuse me while I run to the bank, it’s only 12 million dollars! What? You don’t have that laying around? Ok you’ll just have to settle for reading about the place here then.

Rather unexpectedly I had to let my son’s dog out to go the bathroom a few days ago. My daughter in law is a doula so she had to leave the house in too much of a hurry to give the dog all the time it needed. So as I hadn’t slept because I didn’t have my sleep meds I was wide awake. I took this opportunity to take pics of their dog on the greenway behind their house. I was under the impression that they always took her out there without a leash. I just found out when I showed him one of the pictures I took that I was wrong! I told him she walked right along with me never going more than about fifteen feet away and always looking back for me and coming when called. He could not understand why she had been so good. I am so glad we didn’t happen upon any other animals that would have lured her away! The sun never came out and I didn’t get the pics I hoped for but it was a nice walk for both of us. I wish I could take my dogs but they don’t walk well enough to go through the forest to get to the paths on the greenway. Plus there is lots of mud for them to drag me through. Maybe one day next week I will brave it. They would love it. So here are two pics that I took.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lay? Lie? What?

I love to watch Luna sleep.
